A hard fought game which saw multiple chances at both ends of the pitch. Cazbar FC with an unbalanced formation due to a lack of players in certain positions coped well under difficult circumstances.
The lack of a goalkeeper made a big difference although there was a fine performance from stand in Goalie Tommy Kislingbury, not letting the team down and making a good fist of everything he was asked to deal with. A bright start for Todd Preece unfortunately ended prematurely as injury struck early in the first half. This left us short of experience in the middle of the park and The Ressies were able to force their way through with a combination of slick passes and slightly better fitness levels.
The defence were sterling throughout with man of the match Ian Cawley a revelation at the back. Captain Carey Preece also deserves a mention for some committed heading and tackling this week.
On the whole the result was probably a fair reflection of the team we were able to play but the opposition again will find a full strength Cazbar FC a much harder proposition in the home fixture.
Positives came out of a lovely strike by James Davis for his goal, and several forward opportunities, which if we keep creating the goals will come.
We meet Chilworth next week in a fixture that none of you should need to be fired up for. You let me and yourselves down last time against them with one of the poorest displays I have ever witnessed. Everyman should wake up on Sunday itching to get on that pitch and destroy a side that you are well capable of beating. Every lost cause needs to be chased, every tackle needs to be hard, strong and true, every header needs to be won and every second ball needs to be fought for. If we go out there as a team together, I have every confidence that we can get a result, you owe it to yourselves - get out there and prove how good we can be – we need the same spirit we showed against Esher, the Cazbar winning spirit!
